Is the Waste Easily Broken During Label Die-cutting? Is the Waste Easily Broken During Label Die-cutting?

Diecutting row of waste, both the basic process of self-adhesive label processing, but also a problematic link, of which the row of waste breakage is a relatively common phenomenon. Once the row of waste broken, the operator will have to stop to rearrange the row of waste Department, which also leads to lower production efficiency and higher raw material loss rate. So what are the reasons that lead to the breakage of the row of waste in the die cutter of self-adhesive materials, and how to deal with it?

Die cutter of the raw material tensile strength is low

Some materials, such as light powder paper (also known as mirror coated paper), paper fiber is short, relatively fragile, in the die-cutting waste process, the tensile strength of the row of waste side is lower than the equipment tension of the row of waste, so it is easy to fracture.

If you encounter such a situation, you need to minimize the equipment's scrap tension. If the equipment has been adjusted to the lowest scrap tension or can not solve the problem, then you need to be in the early process design, the scrap edge design is wider to ensure that the die cutter die-cutting process will not frequently appear scrap edge fracture.

Die cutter process design is not reasonable or row of waste side is too thin

Many labels on the market for variable information printing with easy to tear the virtual knife line, some adhesive label processing enterprises by the limitations of the equipment, had to put the virtual line knife and border knife in the same die-cutting station; coupled with the cost and price factors, the row of waste side design is very thin, usually only 1mm wide. This die-cutting process on the label material requirements are extremely high, the slightest carelessness will lead to the row of waste edge breakage, thus affecting production efficiency.

We recommend that self-adhesive label processing enterprises, under the circumstances permitting, as far as possible to tear the virtual knife line and label border separate die-cutting, which can not only reduce the frequency of broken row of waste edge, but also can greatly improve the die cutter die-cutting speed. No conditions of the enterprise can solve this problem by the following ways.

Adjust the proportion of the dashed line knife

Generally speaking, the more dense the arrangement of the dummy knife line cutter is more likely to appear in the row of waste edge breakage problem. Therefore, we can adjust the proportion of the dashed line knife, for example, to 2:1 (every 1mm cut 2mm) so that the chances of breaking the row of waste edge will be greatly reduced.

Remove the dummy knife line beyond the label border part

There are many die-cutting version of the dashed line knife will be longer than the label border, if the row of waste side and narrower, then the dashed line knife will be very narrow row of waste side and cut off part of the side, resulting in the row of waste side easy to break. Encounter this situation, you can use the plastic file to highlight the label outside the border of the dashed knife file off, so you can greatly improve the strength of the row of waste edge, so that the row of waste edge is not easy to break.

Die cutter of raw materials break

Adhesive material breakage is also easy to cause the row of waste edge fracture, the problem is relatively easy to find, this article does not dwell on. It should be noted that some self-adhesive material edge breakage is relatively small, and not easy to find, need to look carefully to find. Encounter such problems, the bad material will be removed and then die-cutting can be.

Die cutter material adhesive fluidity is too strong or too much glue application

Adhesive material in the adhesive coating amount of self-adhesive material has a great impact on the die-cutting performance. Generally in the die cutter equipment, self-adhesive material is not immediately after the die-cutting waste, but to continue to move forward a distance to the waste station before starting to waste. If the adhesive coating is too thick, then from the die-cutting station to the scrap station in the transmission process, the adhesive will flow back, resulting in the cut self-adhesive surface material and stick together, resulting in the scrap edge in the pull up due to adhesion and breakage.

Generally speaking, the coating amount of water-soluble acrylic adhesive should be between 18~22g/m2, while the coating amount of hot melt adhesive should be between 15~18g/m2, and the chances of breaking the row of waste edge will be greatly increased if the self-adhesive material exceeds this range. Some adhesives, even if the coating amount is not large, but due to its own strong fluidity, but also easy to cause the row of waste adhesion.

When encountering such problems, you can first observe whether there is a more serious pulling phenomenon between the row of waste edge and the label. If the pulling phenomenon is more serious, it means that the adhesive coating is larger or more liquidity, can be solved by applying some silicone oil additives on the die-cutting knife, or by means of electric heating rod to solve the problem. Silicone oil additives can effectively slow down the speed of adhesive reflux, while the self-adhesive material can be heated to make the adhesive quickly softened, thereby reducing the degree of drawing.

Die cutter knife defects

Die-cutting knife has defects can also easily lead to the row of waste edge fracture, for example, a small gap in the edge of the knife will lead to self-adhesive surface material can not be completely cut off, the uncut part of the relative to other parts of the force is more concentrated, it is also easy to fracture. This phenomenon is easy to judge, because the location of the fracture is fixed. When encountering such a situation, the damaged die needs to be repaired before being used for die-cutting.
